This is just a quick update to let everyone know that I am back in Kathmandu after a short helicopter flight from Yangle Kharka. Well, the helicopter flight was short but the walk from base camp to Yangle Kharka was long as it took us 10 1/2 hours to get there on Sunday.

I am feeling well and even though we did not reach the summit I am neither sad nor upset as I have certainly gained a lot of experience and met some interesting people during this trip. I have also found out that I can climb and sleep well at almost 8,000m without supplementary oxygen and that my body allows me to stay up there for more than 12 hours. This certainly bodes well for my next trips to 8,000m, which I have certainly in mind.
I will write a longer reflection piece over the next few days but now I have to have my first proper shower in more than seven weeks and then I shall go out for a big pizza and a good cold drink, something I have been dreaming about for the last few weeks.
More soon – and thanks again for all your support!
