This is just a short note to let say that I am back in Kathmandu and I don’t think I have ever come back from the mountains so quickly. After having come down from Camp II on 27 May in the morning, I just had a shower, wrote the newsletter for Himalayan Experience, which you can find here and relaxed for the rest of the day, thinking that I would be at base camp for another two days. The next morning, however, we helped pack the barrels, the boys dismantled the White Pod and all of a sudden Russell said that we should hurry up to get to Pheriche to catch the helicopter to Kathmandu. And here I am…back in the madness of the Nepalese capital trying to let it sink in that I have just climbed the fourth highest mountain in the world – a mountain I never thought I would reach the top of – and I am feeling good about it.
I will elaborate more on the expedition once I have settled back in but in the meantime, I would like to thank Russell, his guides and first and foremost his hardworking Sherpas to make this expedition to Lhotse possible. I had a great time and I am already thinking about the next adventure.
